It's come to my attention that some UK members are having difficulties accessing the site. I'm working with the techs at liquidweb to figure out why these members are having issues. If you are affected by this issue, you have NOT been banned this is not why you can not access the site.

I'd like to disclose that Specktra was not hacked, I've really come to hate that word in the past 3 weeks. Saturday's downtime was due to DB corruption, and yesterday (Sunday) is due to site defacement. It was not my intention to attract the attention of geeks with nothing better to do than create mischief by "defacing" websites. I have a team of highly talented people working with me right now to ensure that further attention from these types is mitigated and dealt with accordingly. Trust me when I say am doing everything in my power (and pocketbook) to ensure that downtime will not be an issue in the future. I apologize sincerely for the recent repeated downtime with the forum.

I am working with the current host as we speak (including a phone call a little later this morning when they open) to get the site back up and running so that we can migrate to Specktra's new dedicated server. When the forum does come back online please be aware that all "extra" features that I have installed will be temporarily disabled while we verify and update the code.

I'm not a professional at this (internet, website, IT, etc), just a normal person who is dedicated to doing everything I can to provide you with your definitive MAC resource. I hope you can be patient with me, and with Specktra, as we take this community to the next step.

Forum downtime

Ah, trusty LJ!

Managing a growing community is a constant learning process, sometimes things just don't work out the way you expected. The forum will be closed for a short period, I will keep any pertinent updates at the blog, which is currently not working with me either, so I've registered this account with LJ. Redundancy is good. We'll be switching hosts shortly as Specktra moves to a dedicated server, I don't have a ETA, but the forum will be back up & when it is I'll post an announcement about the move there with more information. :)
